Applied Scholastics Spanish Lake alumnus Dr. Olatunde Odewumi is an incredible educator. If you aren't familiar with him or his success in the broad implementation of Study Technology, read on and be impressed. We are.

An educator since 1990, Dr. Olatunde Odewumi was introduced to Applied Scholastics and Study Technology through a joint training program in 2007 with Applied Scholastics International and the Nigerian Education Trust Fund. Dr. Odewumi was one of 82 Nigerian university professors chosen to participate in this training program aimed at making them APS Master Trainers who would then go back to their colleges and implement the Study Tech and train students enrolled in teacher training certificate and degree programs.

After Dr. Odewumi returned to his post at the Federal College of Education (FCE) Pankshin he began conducting training of other faculty in Study Technology. As a result, the college saw a dramatic rise in graduation rates among the students enrolled in the Primary Education Department. Graduation rates rose from 56.8% before implementation in 2008, and within five years had soared to 92%.

Each day, I derive more joy being a teacher and I cannot think of any other better thing to do.

In 2010, FCE officially adopted Study Technology into the college’s government approved curriculum and a course in Study Technology is now part of every teaching student’s degree or certificate program at the college’s established Applied Scholastics Study Centre located on the college’s main campus.

In 2018, Dr. Odewumi traveled to the APS Spanish Lake campus to renew his training certification and participate in advanced training courses on Study Technology.

To date, Dr. Odewumi and his team at Applied Scholastics Study Centre Pankshin have trained over 15,000 future teachers with stellar results in improving learning outcomes and as a result, continued success in student graduation rates.

It is through his dedicated and ongoing efforts of training teachers that hundreds of thousands of students across Nigeria have the opportunity to become lifelong learners capable of building new worlds.

"My competence and fulfillment as a teacher got boosted in 2007 when I came in contact with the Applied Scholastics methodology. My influence to get people to learn with ease increased. I have more joy getting teachers and would-be teachers more equipped with skills for life-long learning in the thousands. The series of success stories from the young and the old who have received the Applied Scholastics instruction from me are fulfilling. Each day, I derive more joy being a teacher and I cannot think of any other better thing to do."
